South Yorkshire mdc is a small group of responsible metal detectorists, who are interested in the fascinating hobby of metal detecting.
We meet up on the second and last Tuesday of every month at Thorncliffe cricket & social club, Chapeltown, Sheffield, Meeting start around 7:30pm. The meetings are a good social evening to have a chat , view and show your finds. We also hold a raffle and have the find of the month competition on the last Tuesday of the month. We also have the local Finds Liaison Officer (FLO) for the Yorkshire region, Amy Downes to some of our meetings where she records members’ finds and assists with identification. From time to time, guest speakers are invited to talk to the club members on a wide variety of topics.
Wherever possible the club will try to obtain permission from farmers and landowners to gain access to land, enabling all of us to enjoy a days detecting.Details of these digs are announced during the club meetings, and will be placed on the Forum. These days out will allow the less experienced members to detect alongside the more experienced members, thus helping them to become more successful with their machines.
An issue of paramount importance to the Symdc is Charity fundraising and we have raised money for various Charitable causes including Bluebell wood children’s hospice. We would like to urge any prospective fundraisers who are able to supply land or know of any farmers or landowners who are willing to open up land to the club in order to raise funds for whatever cause, to get in touch with us or pop along to a meeting and we can then discuss details on a more friendly social level.
